PARRISH ART MUSEUM LANDSCAPE PLEASURES EVENT ATTRACTS 400 ATTENDEES,
RAISES OVER $120,000 TO SUPPORT THE MUSEUM’S PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
The Weekend-Long Benefit included a Symposium and Garden Tours
WATER MILL, NY 6/14/2016—Landscape Pleasures, the Parrish Art Museum’s annual two-day horticulture event on Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, raised over $120,000, making it one of the most successful years of the event in the last decade. A mainstay of the Parrish Art Museum benefit events for the last 32 years, Landscape Pleasures helps to support the Museum’s year-round programs, exhibitions, and events. Landscape Pleasures 2016 honored the memory of long-time committee member, Jack deLashmet.
The Saturday morning symposium hosted almost 200 attendees who heard presentations by leaders in garden design and landscape architecture: Charles Birnbaum, President & CEO, as well as founder, of The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TLCF); Andrea Cochran, winner of the 2014 Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in Landscape Architecture; and Darrel Morrison, advocate of design informed and inspired by observations of the naturally-evolving landscape.
On Sunday, over 300 people participated in self-guided tours of private gardens at the homes of Michael Forman and Jennifer Rice designed by landscape architects Oehme van Sweden; Herbert and Karen Friedman, whose garden was originally designed by deLashmet & Associates: Victoria & Jack Rovner, designed by LaGuardia Design Group; and Loren Skeist and Marlene Marko.
In addition, 175 ticket purchasers at the Sponsor level and above ($350+) attended a private cocktail reception on Saturday evening hosted by Tim Davis of the Corcoran Group, at the modern Wyman estate situated on 15 acres on Pond Lane in Southampton Village, with views of Lake Agawam.
2016 Landscape Pleasures event was co-chaired by Lillian Cohen, Martha B. McLanahan, and Linda Hackett Munson, with vice-chairs Stacy Paetzel, Tony Piazza, and Dennis Schrader.
Landscape Pleasures is made possible, in part, by the generous support of Grand Patrons Veronica Atkins, Lillian & Joel Cohen and MARDERS; Grand Sponsors C.A.L. Foundation, LaGuardia Design Group, Meryl & Robert Meltzer,’ Summerhill Landscapes Inc., and Whitmores; and Grand Participants Arthur L. Loeb and Piazza Horticultural.
