On Saturday, October 6th, we attended several of the Hamptons International Film Festival events in East Hampton, NY. We started out at the press headquarters which was based at C/O Maidstone. Here we got the inside scoop from Frank PR as to where we should go later in the day and were able to photograph some of the young upcoming actors outside in the courtyard.
Next we headed over to Guild Hall to photograph the red carpet for the Tribute to Ann Roth. Unfortunately this red carpet kicked off a little earlier than advertised so we missed Nathan Lane, but we were able to photograph the famed costume designer herself, Ann Roth! This red carpet was complete with the giant Oscar statue you usually only see at the Academy Awards, but that might be because next up on the red carpet was Hawk Koch, President of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences. After that was actress and sister of Arthur Miller, Joan Copeland who seemed full of energy. You wouldn’t even know she was 90 years old! CNN correspondent Alina Cho walked the carpet next in a lovely blue and white dress. Following her was Stuart Suna, owner of Silvercup Studios and Chairman of the Hamptons Film Festival. Mike Nichols arrived next followed by a surprise appearance by the lovely Meryl Streep! Last up were the director and producer of “Between Us” Dan Mirvish and Mike Lynch.
Following the Tribute to Ann Roth, we made our way over to Stuart Suna’s house for the Chairman’s Reception. This was another star-studded red carpet that was attended by all the photographers and several film crews including Fox 5, BBC America, and Micah Jesse. Many of Variety’s “10 Actors to Watch” were in attendance including Scoot McNairy, Alicia Vikander, Nate Parker, Elyas M’Barek, Boyd Holbrook, Domhnall Gleeson, Dree Hemingway, and Adam Driver. Also in attendance were Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Alec Baldwin with new wife Hilaria Baldwin, Hawk Koch, HIFF Director of Programming, David Nugent, James Lipton, Toby Jones, Alina Cho, Cathy Lee Jones, Jess Weixler, Tyler Labine, Sting’s wife Trudie Styler, and the much anticipated Sienna Miller who looked absolutely stunning in an Alessandra Rich gown and Prada shoes.
We rounded out the evening with the red carpet for the Conversation with Richard Gere. There were women crowding the sidewalks hoping for a glimpse of the silver haired actor who graciously smiled for the cameras and posed for some photos with his interviewer for the event, Alec Baldwin. Nicholas Jarecki also attended.

The weather was warm enough to allow for the party to flow seamlessly from inside the tasting room out onto the open-air patios overlooking the vineyard itself. As an impressive orange-colored half moon rose over the vines, more and more guests including several from the film industry as well as HIFF Founders filled the venue. Wolffer wine, of course, was served as well as some really delicious hors d’ouerves like artichoke heart fritters, pulled pork on bread bites, and tuna tartare followed up by vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet mini cupcakes for dessert!
Everyone was having such a good time that we all seemed to lose track of time. The party went well past 11PM until the lights were turned up and the end of the party had to be announced! Overall it was a great kickoff to the weekend portion of the film festival which celebrates it’s twentieth year this season! Be sure to check back soon for more photos from Saturday’s events!

Summer in the Hamptons may be officially over, but there’s always one last hurrah out there known as HIFF! The Hamptons International Film Festival is celebrating it’s TWENTIETH year this week and Society-In-Focus will be there to capture photos of some of the extraordinary talent!
HIFF was founded to celebrate Independent film – long, short, fiction and documentary – and to introduce a unique and varied spectrum of international films and filmmakers to their audiences. The festival is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives, with the hope that these programs will enlighten audiences, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers and present inspired entertainment for all. In addition to all the wonderful films being screened over the next few days, there will be a few “conversations” or intimate interviews with several industry faves such as Richard Gere, Alan Cumming, and Stevie Nicks.
