Parrish Art Museum’s Spring Fling 2016 – PHOTOS!

WATER MILL, NY 4/19/2016 — The Parrish Art Museum’s annual Spring Fling community celebration, fundraiser, and networking took place Saturday, April 16, 2016, from 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm at the Museum. Spring Fling, which featured a live band, art scavenger hunt in the galleries, and a silent auction, helps support the Parrish’s year-round educational programs for children as well as adults. 2016 co-chairs were Christine Curiale, Maryanne Horwath, and Laura Wynne

Spring Fling featured live music from Noiz Entertainment, hors d’oeuvres by Southampton Social Club, and an open bar with wine and spirits from Niche Import Co. and Mamont Vodka. Guests were invited to participate in the Museum’s popular art scavenger hunt through the galleries.

This silent auction offered unique goods and services donated by the East End business and professional community, including a 16-person golf outing at Hampton Hills Golf & Country Club followed by a reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres; a sunset sailing trip out of Sag Harbor; VIP passes to the Hampton Classic Horse Show; two one-week summer camp sessions at Sandy Hollow Day Camp; and a one-week 2016 summer camp session at Future Stars; a half-day fluke charter for six people; and many additional gift certificates for products and services from Hamptons shops, and spas, restaurants.

Spring Fling, initiated at the Parrish in the 1990s, raised over $100,000 annually for the Museum’s Education Department. This year, the Parrish developed Access Parrish, a new program for children on the Autism spectrum and adults with Alzheimer’s or dementia, and their care givers. The Parrish continues to offer a wide variety of programs throughout the year: School Collaborations, such as Museum educator-led tours, studio activities, and unique programs developed in collaboration with regional educators; After School Art workshops; school vacation programs; weekly Open Studios; bi-lingual family tours; and the annual Student Exhibition, presented during the month of February, showcasing student artwork from over 30 regional elementary, middle, and high schools. Since the opening of the new building in Water Mill, the Museum has directly served 6,100 children and families, offered 310 school tours, 185 open studios, 208 after school and community offsite art workshops, and 43 weeks of art camps.

Spring Fling was made possible, in part, by support from The Derfner Foundation; Maryanne Horwath & Michael Shaheen, Douglas Elliman Real Estate; Bobbie Braun, Neuwirth Foundation; Brown Harris Stevens, LLC; Christine Curiale, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage; Halstead Property; Arthur L. Loeb; and Nest Seekers International.

The Museum’s programs are made possible, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and the property taxpayers from the Southampton School District and the Tuckahoe Common School District.
