The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, SASF, held its 3rd Annual Unconditional Love Gala on Saturday, July 21st, chaired by Jean Shafiroff at the Southampton home of Sandra McConnell. Cocktails began at 7:00 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner catered by Robbins-Wolfe Eventeurs and dancing the sounds of the Alex Donner Orchestra, which was generously underwritten by an anonymous donor.
The Honorary Corporate Chairs were Allen & Co and Barclays. Ellen & Chuck Scarborough, (NBC 4 News Anchor), were honored for their innumerable contributions to the world of homeless dogs and cats and their continued support of SASF. Jane Hanson, host of NBC 4’s New York Live was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Darlene Rodriguez, David Ushery and Lynda Baquero, all NBC Correspondents joined their colleagues in feting Ellen & Chuck Scarborough.
In attendance from the shelter, were Susan Allen, the organization’s founder and “ANGEL”, as well as Board President, Jonathan McCann, Board Exec. V.P., Sony Schotland, Treasurer, Steve Greenfield, and Board Members Joel Cooper and Jay Durante. Also seen were Honorary Board members, Jean Remmel Little and Andy Sabin.
A silent auction, which was chaired by Nancy Jane Loewy and Amy Cosman, was featured and the gift bag committee was chaired by Raya Keis Knight. Other committee members in attendance were Debra Tanger and Sharon Kerr. Each attended with their respective husbands, Martin Shafiroff, Jeffrey Loewy, Ray Cosman and Cliff Knight. Other guests included Southampton Hospital President, Robert Chaloner, Margo McNabb Nederlander & James L. Nederlander, Charlene & James Nederlander Sr., Somers & Jonathan Farkas, Yaz & Valentin Hernandez, Elizabeth Shafiroff, Cece & Lee Black, Lydia & Rudy Touzet, Beverly & Saul Negreann, Henry Buhl, Linda & Kim Renk, Lucia Hwong Gordon, Mayor Mark & Marianne Epley, Cassandra and Robert Seidenfeld, Howard Marton, Chris Obetz and Melanie & John Wambold, among the 300 + guests in attendance.
The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is ranked among the top ten shelters in the country. The Shelter’s Board President recently said, “As a result of the skilled staff and extraordinary volunteers, the shelter has been named the 2012 SHELTER of the YEAR, an honor bestowed at the June 9, 2012 Petfest’s Pet Hero Awards Ceremony”.
On Saturday, July 28, we will be photographing the sold out HEAT event for the second year in a row. HEAT benefits the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital, and Ellen’s Well.
This year’s event is taking place at the waterfront home of Dr. Howard and Gayle Sobel on Mecox Bay in Water Mill, NY and will feature food from renowned chefs Peter Ambrose, Roxanne Browning, David Burke, John Deloach, Claudia Fleming, Lucy Kazickas, Kathleen King, John Villa, and Food Network’s newest Iron Chef, Geoffrey Zakarian!
Founding chairs are Ellen’s sisters, Emily Levin and Julie Ratner. Honorary chairs are Katie Couric and Fern Mallis. Event co-hosts are Karine Bakhoum and Countess Luann De Lesseps. The event will be emceed by Rosanna Scotto and will honor Dee Dee Ricks. Special guests expected to attend are Edie Falco and Mercedes Ruehl.
We were proud to attend last year’s event and bring attention to these very important causes and we are very happy to have been asked back for a second year in a row. We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!

She educated her readers about the importance of early detection, the challenges of living with breast cancer, the very real, but little-discussed or understood, issue of pain management, and the debilitating effects of breast cancer on the entire family.”

On Saturday, July 21, we had the pleasure of photographing the 14th Annual Ann Liguori Foundation Dinner Dance at Duck Walk Vineyards in Water Mill, NY benefiting The American Cancer Society and Healthy Children, Healthy Futures. The weather could not have been more perfect that evening. It started in the low 70’s and dropped into the 60’s with beautiful clear skies that produced a lovely sunset over the winery.
Guests started arriving around 6:30 and the tasting room quickly filled up. The bar was serving up delicious Duck Walk wines as well as a couple of signature cocktails, Absolut wild tea and a watermelon margarita with black sea salt rimming the glass. Hors d’oeuvres were passed around by the fabulous Outback Steakhouse crew and everyone really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Ann’s brother, Dan Liguori, provided the musical entertainment for the evening. He sang and played guitar for the entire hour and a half without taking a break before the short program started. I was really impressed with his talent and his ability to remember and play so many songs!
Two long tables in the tasting room were filled with Chinese auction items and there was also a table full of jewelry for auction provided by Judith Ripka. The winery’s large vat room also contained several pieces of sports memorabilia as silent auction items provided by Eagle Sports.
Outside were two tents covering the beautifully decorated dining tables in the courtyard. Crisp blue and yellow linens covered the tables with centerpieces created by Ann’s niece, Madison Skidgel, made from hydrangeas cut from Ann’s own back yard! Between the dining area and the rows of grape vines was a putting green where Ann’s nephew, Christian Skidgel, was running a putting competition. What Ann Liguori event wouldn’t be complete without a little golfing?!
There was a short program before dinner where Ann, introduced by CBS’s Dr. Max Gomez, thanked her guests and the committee members for another successful year. Special thank yous were given to Alex Damianos from Duck Walk, Vanessa Kretkowski and Steve Costello from Outback Steakhouse, and event chairperson Patricia Vallary. Also specially thanked for being in attendance was Tim Gannon, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse! Next up were some live auctions including dinner for eight at Capital Grill, Yankees tickets in the Delta Sky Box, a foursome to play The Bridge golf course, and two tickets to the US Women’s Open at Sebonack.
The dinner buffet was a delicious meal consisting of salad, their famous pumpernickel bread and butter, seasoned grilled chicken, tender steak, and asparagus. They even passed out pieces of raspberry cheesecake for dessert, yum!
Following dinner, most people filed back into the tasting room for the highly anticipated dance competition. Four songs were played and at the end, four judges chose Ivy Winick and Ken Tressler as the winners. They received two bottles of one of Duck Walk’s best wines as a prize. The party continued into the night as revelers danced to the music and wine continued to flow. Overall it was a another successful event and we were happy to be a part of it!

Last year’s Unconditional Love benefit was the first event Tom and I officially photographed together as Society-In-Focus, so not only are we just excited to be invited back to photograph the event again, but this marked a very special occasion for us…our company’s one year anniversary! Our parent company, T.H.E. Fitzgerald Photography, has been going strong for a number of years now with several weddings, portrait shoots, family photos, and editorials under our belts, but we have been having so much fun embarking on this side journey of event photography in the Hamptons and NYC. This past year has been such a blessing for us. We have met so many new friends and contacts, attended numerous fancy parties, supported some wonderful causes and foundations, and have gained so much experience along the way.
Business has really picked up over the last few months with our photos being published in more magazines and media outlets than ever before and we just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our friends and families for your support and encouragement along the way. Thank you also to all of the business contacts we have made and all the PR firms who continue to throw work our way and get our names and photos out into the world. We appreciate it so much when our work is recognized for its high quality and vibrant colors. Without all of you, we wouldn’t be as successful as we are today and we look forward to working with everyone more and more in the future and being able to share our photographs and experiences with everyone we know!
So here’s to a great first year of successful teamwork and hopefully many more to come!

On Saturday, July 21, we have the privilege of photographing the Ann Liguori Foundation‘s VIP Dinner/Dance at Duck Walk Vineyards in Water Mill, NY. This year marks the 14th annual event and will be benefiting the American Cancer Society and Healthy Futures – Healthy Children teaching young people about good nutrition and fitness for over-all good health benefits.
The evening will feature a buffet dinner provided by Outback Steakhouse as well as Duckwalk Vineyards wine and a martini bar! There will also be a silent auction, a raffle for fabulous prizes, live music, and of course…dancing! Join Ann and her friends this weekend for what is sure to be another fun and successful event!

Yes, it’s that time of year again! Time for the Parrish Art Museum annual Midsummer Party. Society-In-Focus will be there photographing the cocktail hour, until the end of The After-Ten Party. This will be the final year for the Jobs Lane historical landmark, founded 115 yeas ago. The Museum will be officially moving to it’s new home in Water Mill later this year.
This year’s Midsummer Party theme is “Creative Spirit of the East End” and honors director/choreographer Patricia Birch, visual artist Chuck Close, author/historian Barbara Goldsmith, interior designers Tony Ingrao and Randy Kemper, musician G.E. Smith, and dancer/choreographer Paul Taylor.
Summer in the Hamptons is like no other time or place in the world, and there is no occasion like the Midsummer Party. The highlight of the summer season, the Midsummer Party is also the Parrish Art Museum’s most important fundraising event of the year.
