Society-In-Focus Photos in October’s Issue of Long Island Pulse!

The October issue of Long Island Pulse magazine hit the newsstands this week and Society-In-Focus is proud to announce that some of our photos are on four pages this month!

Photos from their September Cover Party’s fashion show can be seen on pages 14 and 144 and both Splash Pages this month (pages 146 and 147) are events that we shot also!  The 7th Annual Authors Night benefit for the East Hampton Library and the 2011 Hampton Classic photos were selected for print!  Online versions of these articles and photos can be seen on the Long Island Pulse website!

We’ve got a lot more events planned for the month of October so keep checking back!

L.I. Pulse Cover Party Fashion Show

On Tuesday, September 13th, we were invited to attend the Cover Party for Long Island Pulse Magazine‘s September issue.  The party was held at the upscale Four Food Studios in Melville, NY.  Since September is Fashion Month here in NY, the party featured a Fall fashion show which we were hired to photograph.  The show, titled “Feathers of Fashion” featured eight models who took to the runway previewing new Fall clothing and accessories from various designers and stores such as Ambalu Jewelers, Bloomingdale’s, Emily Sky Fashions, Gelber & Mundy, Glenn Bradford Jewelry, Lester’s, Michael Allen Opticians, Raymond Weil, Rexer-Parkes, and Saks Fifth Avenue.  The show was coordinated, casted, and styled by Long Island Pulse magazine publisher and editor Nada and Nicole McConnach.

We were excited to attend the party for the September issue of L.I. Pulse because some of our photos are in this issue!  Pages 124 and 142 feature photos from Society-In-Focus that we took at the HEAT benefit and Georgica’s restaurant.  The “Splash Page” featuring the HEAT benefit photos is also available online here.  We had a great time shooting this fast-paced event and look forward to working with the magazine again real soon!

Hampton Classic Horse Show 2011

On Sunday, September 4th, we drove out to the Hampton Classic Horse Show grounds in Bridgehampton, NY.  The weather was picture perfect, sunny and in the low 80’s for Grand Prix Sunday.  We received our press badges in the Press Tent and listened to the security briefing before making our way over to the VIP tent.

Once inside the VIP tent, we decided to walk the full length of it (and the smaller VIP tent connected to it) to first check out all the beautiful tablescapes.  Table after table was decorated with such a range of centerpieces created with everything from seasonal flowers to colorful glassware to vegetables and bread and even Nespresso machines!  Each one was more intriguing than the next!

Soon the tent started filling up with hundreds of VIP guests including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, James Lipton, Rosanna ScottoMatt Lauer, and Nacho Figueras.  We saw many familiar faces, people we have met over the years and over this summer, and many new friends as well.

Around 2PM, we made our way back over to the Press Tent to change lenses to capture the $250,000 FTI Grand Prix and FEI World Cup™ Qualifier event.  Rider after rider took to the ring to navigate their horses through the 16 jump course.  There were 33 competitors in all.  It was so exciting to be up close right on the field level to witness this event!  We could hear the horses galloping past, snorting as they breathed heavily, and could see the grass and dirt being kicked up as they made their jump attempts.  It was an aerial act like no other I’ve ever seen in person.  I think you forget just how large these beautiful animals are when you watch something like this on TV and it is so impressive to see them leaping so high in the air from such a short distance!

Seven riders completed Round 1 with zero faults which forced a second jump-off round.  First up was Kent Farrington riding “Uceko” who completed the modified course in a super fast time of 32.96 seconds.  Up fourth was the crowd favorite, two-time Olympic team Gold Medalist, McLain Ward of Brewster, NY riding “Antares F.”  We were all on the edges of our seats as we could hear the announcer say that he had just completed one stretch of the course in 7 strides instead of 8 like Farrington had.  The crowd was practically silent as Ward navigated the course perfectly, but erupted in cheers when the final time on the board was less than two tenths of a second faster than Farrington’s at 32.78!  Ward won the event for the third year in a row and a record breaking sixth time overall.  What a show!
